The Purpose of Romans

Since Paul had not personally traveled to Rome - even though he had felt a desire to do so on several occasions, he wrote one of the most comprehensive explanations of the gospel in the entire New Testament. His desire was to show both Jews and Gentiles in the Roman church that everyone stands on common ground before Jesus. All people are sinners, so all need a Savior. And those who are saved by the grace of God through the death an dresurrection of Jesus are expected to pursue holiness through the power of the Spirit.
